本州、四国及び九州など温帯域のみに分布し、中国からも記録されている。クリ、クヌギ、コナラなどブナ科の落葉広葉樹の枯れ葉に生息する。オスの第6腹節背板にある1対の角状突起はよく発達し外側に湾曲する。食菌性。
